Overview

RightScale Cloud Analytics shows prices and costs based on standard published pricing data from cloud providers. You may wish to modify these prices to adjust the costs that Cloud Analytics presents to other users within your enterprise.

Markups

To reflect your organization’s cross-department cost charging, you may need to present each department with their cloud computing costs marked up to include overhead. You can mark up the list prices shown with Cloud Analytics by a specified percentage.

Markdowns

Your enterprise may have a custom pricing agreement or discounts with a cloud provider. In Cloud Analytics, you can reflect your pricing agreement by marking down the list prices by the appropriate percentage.

Duration

A markup or markdown will apply to all future data and all historic data.

Markups can be applied to the costs shown on the Dashboard, which includes compute, storage and network costs (collectively known as Dashboard costs). They can also be applied to the Instance costs shown on other pages of Cloud Analytics. You can select the checkbox to apply the discount to either or both locations.

When you have entered values in these fields and selected where the markup should be applied, click Save to save your changes.

Note that once a markup has been applied, it may take a few hours to be reflected across your historic and future costs.

Adding a Markdown

When you click the Add Markup button, a form will appear allowing you to enter a title for the markup, and a percentage to apply. Immediately to the left of the percentage field is a button for opening a menu to specify if the percentage is positive (a markup) or negative (a markdown):
